Iraq War Veteran Seeks 6th District Seat

Amesbury Democrats met this weekend with Seth Moulton, a native of Marblehead who is seeking the Democratic nomination for Congress, representing the 6th District.

Moulton graduated from Harvard in 2001 and promptly joined the Marine Corps. The September 11 attacks occurred shortly thereafter, and Moulton soon found himself leading an infantry platoon into Baghdad as part of the first company of Marines to enter the city. Once established in the Iraqi capitol, Marine commanders tasked Moulton with helping to build an independent Iraqi media, and he was handed the reigns of the the national television airwaves.

Nine Residents Elected to Delegate Positions

More than 30 Amesbury Democrats met at City Hall last weekend to caucus and elect delegates for the upcoming convention. The caucus was open to all registered Democrats residing in Amesbury.

“Caucuses that elect delegates to a nominating convention are always exciting,” said Rebecca Jordon, chair of the Amesbury Democratic Committee. “They mark the beginning of the process, and are often well attended by local Democrats, candidates and campaign surrogates.”

Don Berwick in Amesbury

Don Berwick spoke to the Amesbury Democratic City Committee in December.  He is a pediatrician who became passionate about equality in health care. He was called in the spirit of public service to head and administer the policies of the Center for Medicare and Meddicaid and was one of the architects of Health Care Reform for CSM, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. He is committed to “being a beacon” for the state of Massachusetts.

2013 3T 2C meetingThe Democratic City and Town Committees of Amesbury, Newbury, Newburyport, Salisbury, and West Newbury, known as The Three Towns And Two Cities ( 3T&2C), are planning their ninth annual spring breakfast to be held at Nicholson Hall in Newburyport on Saturday, April 5, 2014. A coffee/social will start at 8:30 AM followed by a sumptuous buffet breakfast at 9:00 AM. The Three Towns and Two Cities Breakfast Committee has invited Democratic candidates for Governor, other statewide constitutional offices, and important congressional races to speak.
